Video becomes more useful when it sits inside a clear website journey. This Moonee Valley workshop showed local businesses how a simple live demonstration can become content for a business website.

Social media workshop with Moonee Valley City Council

Simple video for local business websites

Reach Digital ran a social media workshop for Moonee Valley City Council, built around a live demonstration of how a business could produce its own simple marketing video. Rather than just describing the process, the session showed attendees the steps in real time, from framing a shot to thinking about what the video needed to say.

Sessions like this were part of a wider round of council business workshops Reach Digital delivered across Melbourne in the early 2010s, including for Hume City Council and the City of Monash.

Making video useful, not just visible

The point of the live demonstration was practical: business owners often hesitate to make video because the process feels technical. Seeing a short video put together on the spot, using the kind of equipment already in most offices, made the idea feel more achievable than it does on paper.
